PT Project

I am starting a new project today.  Everyday that I think about it I will snag the Phantasy Tour message board at a random time and upload it to my blog.  I think the subject lines found on PT make for a great capture of what is going on that day in the musical world.

let me know what you think....

Kanye Stood up Bonnaroo ?

This is straight from the source, three members of inforoo.org who posted early this morning.

Thats right Kanye didnt show up. The show was originally changed to 2:45, when we got there the big screen said changed to 3:15. Then at 3:15 we litterally saw the big screen change to 3:30. Finally at 4:10, while the big screen said Kanye West up next, we finally decided to leave. Here it is 500am and I am just getting home and yes, Kanye stood up Bonnaroo...

Supwitdat...???

I am so pissed, tired, spun, and killed right now, I dont even have words for it...

----------------

No he didn't...he went on stage at 4:25am. 1h45m late. Kind of a Summers breeze in a sack move, considering other tents suffered attendance since people were waiting for him to go on. Ghostland Observatory was pretty empty for the first bit of the set (and it was awesome)...shame. And now nobody can sleep because Kanye has the volume turned up to 11 (it's 5:15am). Not to mention his set is the cheesiest thing I've seen in my life...I was expecting more.

----------------------

I fully expect Superfly to apologize to Bonnaroo ticket purchasers for whatever it was that happened this morning with Kanye West.

I for one was not expecting to stay much past 3:30 this morning. I'm dosing off right now after having been awake for 37 straight hours working a shift at my orginal job on Friday night and then being called in early to work a doubleshift for the catering company contracted by 'Roo.

this year's bonnaroo will be ______________

Enter your opinion here__________

I'll give you mine, it'll be BLAH, what happened to the Roo roots? Where are the fun Jammy bands who play all night and are the perfect backdrop for the amazing party that is the Roo.

Is Bonnaroo becoming Blah-a-Roo? I mean Metallica IS cool, ok, WAS cool when I was in High School, blaring Black before a football game was the greatest feeling, no doubt. But Metallica at Bonnaroo? Ok, I will give Superfly some credit, they do have an AMAZING sound set up each year and obviously Metallica will be able to take advantage of this but it doesn't change the fact that Metallica is dark, loud and....a bit obnoxious!

Do the kids of today even know who Metallica is? Have they done anything since Lar's spat with the RIAA? (that's another negative check mark for them as well)

What is happening to the Roo? In 2003 (my first experience) I was blown away by the peaceful vibe, will Metallica change that feeling? And, please don't argue that Tool did the same thing last year because Tool is an anomoly, deep down Tool is TrIpPy music, perfect for the Roo experience. I'm just afraid that Metallica won't be able to bring the same mind melt....

Pearl Jam will be cool and they always put on a good show but as for headliners they are the only band I would be excited to see, even Jack Johnson isn't a late night headliner, I want to see him during the sunny afternoon while sipping a good beer.

So, here's the line up...and here's the hoping that Bonnaroo gets back to it's roots someday.....

Pearl Jam, Metallica, Jack Johnson, Kanye West, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, Phil Lesh and Friends, My Morning Jacket, The Allman Brothers Band, The Raconteurs, Willie Nelson, Death Cab For Cutie, B.B. King, Sigur Ros, Levon Helm and the Ramble on the Road, Ben Folds, O.A.R., The Bluegrass Allstars featurig Luke Bulla, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer and Bryan Sutton, M.I.A., Umphrey's McGee, Iron and Wine, Yonder Mountain String Band, Swell Season, Talib Kweli, Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi's Soul Stew Revival, Broken Social Scene, Robert Randolph Gospel Show, Rilo Kiley, Gogel Bordello, Mastodon, Lupe Fiasco, Against Me, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Pat Green, Ozomatli, Tegan and Sara, Solomon Burke, Drive-By Truckers, !!!, The Avett Brothers, Israel Vibrations, Abigail Washburn and the Sparrow Quartet featuring Bela Fleck, Phil Lesh / Larry Campbell / Jackie Green, Aimee Mann, Ladytron, The Fiery Furnaces, Orchestra Baobab, Ghostland Observatory, Jose Gonzalez, Dark Star Orchestra, Minus The Bear, Donavon Frankenreiter, Lez Zeppelin, State Radio, Battles, Jakob Dylan, Two Gallants, The Sword, Vampire Weekend, Little Feat, Nicole Atkins, The Felice Brothers, Mason Jennings, MGMT, The Lee Boys, Black Kids, Serena Ryder, Steel Train, Grupo Fantasma, Back Door Slam
